Did you get a new Keurig 2.0 machine and then realize that your old k cups won’t work in the new machine? If so, then don’t worry for you are not alone (we could start a support group). Everyone’s frustratedly asking “What K Cups Work with 2.0?”
The source of this frustration is he Keurig company. In an attempt to corner the market, and control what k cups you could use in their machines, Keurig installed new technology into their machines ensuring that you could only buy or use k cups from them.
So if you are like me and are somewhat frustrated, a little annoyed, but more importantly DESPERATE for good cup of coffee, then have no fear….
I have found the top 5 k cups that are guaranteed to work in your new Keurig 2.0 machine.
Each brand of k cup brings a few different perks to the table, so I have tried all of them and will let you in on my thoughts and experience. As an avid coffee lover this really was no chore for me. Perhaps dare I say even a pleasure!
Made from 100% Arabica Coffee, the Regular, Medium Extra Bold variant from the Original Donut shop is the most straightforward, no-nonsense coffee there is. For a lot of people, this is the best accompaniment to any plain honey-glazed donuts and who could blame them. With this coffee’s full body and bold flavor it easily meets what you might expect from a traditional cup of coffee.
As of the moment, this is the number one K cup in the market today. Once you have tasted this, you will understand why it is ranked on top.
Only downside I have to say about this one particular brand would be that the packaging , or top of the k cup, seemed to cause the Keurig machines to clog. I found this problem with several k cups, so think it is ultimately a problem with the design of the machine, but this particular brand seemed to struggle with this more than the others.
Among all Green Mountain Coffee variants, their Breakfast Blend is the most popular thanks to its rich flavor and medium level acidity. Coffee gourmands will taste the fruity flavor, like Central American bean, combined with the sweetness of Indonesian coffee. Those who just love a good hot brew in the morning will enjoy this because it’s not too strong or bitter, offering. A medium brew taste.
This same uniqueness of flavor is also the only real flaw I found with the product. This probably comes to more of a personal preference, but I found it to not be quite as strong or bold as I would like. If you are looking for that good stiff cup in the morning then you might want to consider another k cup option. But if mild is more your style, then this Green Mountain Breakfast Blend would be the perfect fit for you and your Keurig 2.0.
As advertised on the product’s website, The Original variant of Eight O’Clock Coffee is the perfect beverage for breakfast, or let’s be honest, really anytime. This k cup brand is made entirely from 100% Arabica beans sourced from Latin America and East Africa. This unique blend of beans lends to brewing a robust cup of coffee that has slight hint of a sweet and fruity flavor, making it appeal to a variety of different papers and tastes.
Again, the only real downsides to this brand of k cups would come down to personal taste and preference. I like to keep some of these on hand for when I want a slightly different taste but still with the guarantee of getting a good strong cup.
For the purposes is this article, the Eight O’Clock Coffee brand has updated all of their k cups to meet the requirements of the technology. So there will be no troubles its this k cup working in the new 2.0 Keurig brewing system.
The Rogers Family Company, that produces the San Francisco Bay Coffee, is a unique coffee maker as they are not only concerned with delivering a great cup of coffee, but also in helping the environment. So, if you want your coffee to have a cause, then this is the brand for you.
The Arabica beans used for the San Francisco Bay One Cup comes from Central and South America and are roasted to perfection. As a result you expect that nutty, chocolate undertones in your morning coffee. Which I find to be just amazing!
The best thing about this though, other than its superior flavor, is that the K-cup pods are completely biodegradable. So you can have an amazing cup of black coffee easily and very conveniently without the guilt of harming the environment!
It is important to note that on their own these k cups are not actually compatible with Keurig 2.0 machines. You might consider this a plus or a minus.
The plus side to this is that the Rogers Family Company includes they own custom made “Freedom Clip” for your Keurig machines. This Freedom Clip is a small metal device that you simply clip into the top of your Keurig 2.0 machine, and it will then allow you to brew whatever kind of k cup you desire. They include this clip in every box of coffee that you purchase.
Now I see this as a plus because it allows you to enjoy not only the fabulous San Francisco Bay One Cup coffee, but you also now have the option to use any other kind of k cup you like.
Now, if the idea of having to add the Freedom Clip to your machine is not really your cup of Joe, then this might not be the brand for you. But I will warn you that you would be missing out on cup of coffee that not only taste great, but helps the environment as well.
Those who want a mild tasting coffee with low acidity, pleasantly sweet flavor and hints of dark chocolate and walnuts, the Caribou Blend is the best. It is made of 100% Arabica beans from Indonesia, Central and South America.
Some people find this coffee too bland and watery. But each pack is labeled as ‘regular’, ‘bold’ or ‘extra bold’, referring to the amount of ground coffee beans in each pod. For those who like their coffee strong, the ‘extra bold’ may be the best for them.
As I said earlier, you might be frustrated with the new technology inside your Keurig 2.0 machine, and honestly, I agree with you. But as you can see mentioned above I think there are plenty of excellent choices of k cups available to you that will give you that perfect cup of coffee that you are looking for.
