Who doesn’t like a good strong cup of coffee? I’m not one of those people that wants to my coffee to look and taste like something else. I want the real deal! Not weak or mild, but a good strong and bold cup of coffee.
Since my coffee addiction leads me to drink a cup or two a day, or perhaps more than that, then I need to find the most economical way to keep feeding my addiction. This search has lead me to incorporating reusable k cups into my coffee making process. These cups are great because they allow me to use any kind of coffee I want, they are reusable leaving no plastic cup to throw away and fill up the landfill, and they are a much cheaper option than continuing to buy traditional k cups.
If you are like me then you are thinking, ok that sounds great, but will it let me brew my coffee strong enough? I’m with you! Therefore, I set out to try and test a variety of options to find out which is the best reusable K-Cup for stronger coffee.
Ekobrew Refillable K-cup

This company has crafted a great product that is not only environmentally friendly, economical, but also consistently produces a strong cup of coffee. The k cup is made mostly of a strong plastic that is 100% BPA Free. It has an attached lid so that you will never lose it. The plastic hinge on this cup works flawlessly in allowing you to easily open the cup to fill it with coffee, then close tight for the brewing process. It has a flat bottom so you can fill the cup in advance and easily store it in your freezer, waiting for your next cup.
Each of the filters is composed of stainless steel, with holes just the right size to let all of your coffee pour into your cup, yet keeping most of the grounds out. This design really allows for the water to stay in the Ekobrew K cup for a few extra moments, which causes it to brew longer with the coffee grounds and thus producing an even better and stronger coffee taste.
Only really drawback I found to this model is that it can be a little difficult to clean out. It definitely calls for putting the cup under some running water and possibly giving it a few good taps against the sink.
This process is definitely not too time consuming, but wouldn’t it be better if everything in the kitchen could just clean itself?
STK’s Reusable K-Cups
[easyazon_image align=”right” height=”160″ identifier=”B00L03WH7A” locale=”US” src=”http://coffeemakersparadise.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/412IFd38cwL.SL1603.jpg” tag=”cafe049-20″ width=”126″]This was one of the first K-cups I ever ordered, and is really where my love for reusable k cups began. The STK cup [easyazon_link identifier=”B00L03WH7A” locale=”US” tag=”cafe049-20″]STK cup[/easyazon_link] is amazingly sturdy and never lets me down in consistently brewing a perfect cup of coffee. I have used this particular cup for a very long time and through many cups, and after all that I am still very satisfied with how the product has performed and how it has withstood the usage. As with the other models the STK’s Reusable K Cups also consists of a plastic cup with attached lid, and stainless steel filters. On this particular brand the filters are also in a dolphin shape which gives that unique look and allows for a stronger cup of coffee.
Eco-Fill 2.0 Deluxe
I used this product on a Keurig 2.0 Series 300 and trust me the product is worth every cent and since it is reusable it also is a great value.
I filled my [easyazon_link identifier=”B00PBF3T3E” locale=”US” tag=”cafe049-20″]Eco-Fill cup[/easyazon_link] with my favorite ground coffee and simply dropped it into my machine. I found this product to be clean and easy to use, with very little mess. It produced a nice and strong cup of coffee, without too much settlement in the bottom of my cup.
The filter in this k cup is also made of stainless steel, so that it will be durable and consistently deliver a good brew. I found the filters to cover a little larger area of the cup as compared to other models. I think this lead to actually having more coffee in my cup with each brew. Now this is a pretty minor difference, but worth mentioning nonetheless.
Those filters did allow for this k cup to brew a nice and strong cup of coffee, but I did find it to not be as dark as the other reusable k cups I tested. Of course lots of factors could have contributed to that, and definitely was not unsatisfactory, but was different.
PureJava Reusable K-cups
This product is a little different than the others in this category as it has unique [easyazon_link identifier=”B00UEAH14O” locale=”US” tag=”cafe049-20″]dolphin shapes[/easyazon_link] as the design for its filters. These filters are still made of stainless steel and work the same as the other models, but the design just gives them a more unique and special look.
Aside from the filters the rest of the product is composed of 100% BPA Free plastic. There is an attached lid that keeps everything together, and provides easy access to fill and empty your k cup.
While visually the dolphin design gives this product and interesting look, these shaped filters are slightly smaller than the ones on other models. This can result in the brewed coffee flowing a little slower out of the cup in comparison. I found this to be only a minor difference and really not that big of a deal.
Keurig My K-Cup Reusable Coffee Filter
I would call this [easyazon_link identifier=”B000DLB2FI” locale=”US” tag=”cafe049-20″]K Cup[/easyazon_link] the origin or birth of the entire reusable k cup market. It was among the first and the only reusable option actually design, created, and produced by Keurig. As a result it obviously fits flawlessly into the Keurig machines, however only in the original version of the [easyazon_link identifier=”B00AQ9NIO0″ locale=”US” tag=”cafe049-20″]Keurig K45[/easyazon_link]. With the 2.0 series of machines the housing for the k cups is designed differently, and as a result this product will not fit inside it. There are no stickers or hack available to make this cup fit in the new machines.
But if you still have the Keurig K45 model then this could be the perfect option for you. This k cup consist of 3 separate parts: filter, base, and lid. You simply place the filter inside the base, fill with coffee, screw the lid on tightly, and you are ready to pop it in your machine and have it deliver you a great and strong cup of coffee.
Plastic makes up the all the parts and housing for this product, while still utilize stainless steel for the filter. Its pointed design for the base does make it impossible to stand this model up. As a result you can not pre-make or pre-load the filter with coffee, but rather have to add the coffee grounds right before you want to brew it. For most this is probably a minor inconvenience, but for me doing anything before I have my coffee is a struggle!
Conclusion
When you look at the money you can save by using reusable K Cups, it just becomes such an easy decision to try them. Also, I want to point out that all of these k cups, with the exception of the Keurig My K-Cup, can be compatible with the new Keurig 2.0 series of machines. You will need to purchase and use the Freedom Stickers (most k cups come with a few to get your started) and you should have no trouble making that perfect cup of coffee.
