A simple search on Google will now display 1,001 different reusable K-Cups claiming to be compatible with Keurig’s 2.0 technology. Many of them work straight out of the box while others require an extra step.
For having so many out there which require that additional step, no one tells you upfront what that step is. The most they mention is their K-Cup is compatible with the 2.0 technology. The concept is simple, but we recommend tweezers to fix them to the cups. Tweezers will help people with big hands (like me) get the sticker on the right part of the rim. The label needs to be on the nine o’clock position of the top edge.
To find it, put the K-Cup into the machine then take it out without changing the orientation of the cup at all. Look at the cup from the top down and imagine a clock. The top position is twelve o’clock; the bottom position is six o’clock. The right place is three o’clock, and the left place is the nine o’clock position. Put the sticker on the rim of the cup in the nine o’clock position.
This is an adhesive sticker, so common sense says your cup needs to be clean and dry. Once the sticker is in place, you are all set! Your reusable K-Cup is now 100% compatible with your new machine!

You may be sacrificing a big brand name, but that is okay—your bank account will thank you later. These little pods are black with large filter holes. The screen is made from stainless steel mesh. That design decision alone makes it last longer than the ones with plastic mesh.
The larger mesh-covered holes make it feel flimsy, but that is because the mesh is a flexible material. The holes in the mesh are super fine; your grinds will not get in the coffee. We cannot recommend them for heavy duty use, however. If you drink coffee all day every day, or if you have several coffee drinkers in the house who brew coffee at different times of the day, we recommend one that will stand up to constant use. While the price makes this a bargain, it will eventually break down at the seams and seep grinds in your coffee.
Furthermore, this one tends to drip when you remove it, so keep a napkin handy. Don’t feel bad about this. This is another money-saving option, but it requires care when opening and using. Many people complained about the thin envelope that it ships in rather than a crush-proof box. The envelope was padded, but we have to agree. These cups are delicate, but under proper care, they will give you your money’s worth. Make sure you fill it properly, which means for standard, preground coffee, fill it ¾ of the way. The finer you go, fill it less, down to ½ way for espresso grind. People who do not obey this find their filter leaking into their machine.
The price is often a reflection of quality, and it is apparent here. It does its job well if you do not mind paying attention to what you are doing and treating it delicately.

This design looks sturdier than the others. It is a one piece design, eliminating any possibility of losing any parts, 
like the lid. The mesh is not as fine as the others, so if you want a strong espresso brew, a paper filter is recommended. It does sport the stainless steel mesh, and it is dishwasher safe—however, top rack and protected.
One of those little baskets sold in the baby aisle of many grocery stores for putting various small parts in the dishwasher, like baby bottle caps and nipples will work well here. Use one of these baskets in your dishwasher to minimize warping plastic.
Make sure the Freedom sticker is in the proper position. Other than that, you are good to go! Don’t overfill and make sure the lid is on tight, but that goes with any reusable K-Cup.
