People have been innovating creatively ever since Keurig released the line of 2.0 machines. A simple search on Google will now display 1,001 different reusable K-Cups claiming to be compatible with Keurig’s 2.0 technology. Many of them work straight out of the box while others require an extra step.
For having so many out there which require that additional step, no one tells you upfront what that step is. The most they mention is their K-Cup is compatible with the 2.0 technology. Every single reusable K-Cup here—except the last one—is compatible with 2.0 machines if you take this one extra step. The last one is compatible without the Freedom Stickers.

We are here to keep you in the loop of what that extra step is. The most popular name for them are Freedom Stickers! These little [easyazon_image align=”left” height=”500″ identifier=”B00S1MKM20″ locale=”US” src=”http://coffeemakersparadise.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/51G1F08o4CL.jpg” tag=”cafe049-20″ width=”351″]stickers can be meticulous to put on your K-Cup, but they have a job, and they do it well. They are orange in color, and one little sticker on the rim of your K-Cup can fool the machine into thinking you have an official K-Cup in there. They get their name because of the freedom they offer; as long as the pod fits in your machine, you can use any coffee or brand choose. Brew to your heart’s desire!
The concept is simple, but we recommend tweezers to fix them to the cups. Tweezers will help people with big hands (like me) get the sticker on the right part of the rim. The label needs to be on the nine o’clock position of the top edge.
To find it, put the K-Cup into the machine then take it out without changing the orientation of the cup at all. Look at the cup from the top down and imagine a clock. The top position is twelve o’clock; the bottom position is six o’clock. The right place is three o’clock, and the left place is the nine o’clock position. Put the sticker on the rim of the cup in the nine o’clock position.
This is an adhesive sticker, so common sense says your cup needs to be clean and dry. Once the sticker is in place, you are all set! Your reusable K-Cup is now 100% compatible with your new machine!
You do not need a new sticker every time you brew a cup of coffee. They will last through multiple washings. They are manufactured by EkoBrew, one of the top names in reusable K-Cups.

If you are budget-minded, you’ve come to the right place. If you can get away with paying less for life’s little luxuries,[easyazon_image align=”right” height=”160″ identifier=”B00JST8RD6″ locale=”US” src=”http://coffeemakersparadise.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/51M4E7nvKHL.SL160.jpg” tag=”cafe049-20″ width=”148″] why wouldn’t you? You may be sacrificing a big brand name, but that is okay—your bank account will thank you later. These little pods are black with large filter holes. The screen is made from stainless steel mesh. That design decision alone makes it last longer than the ones with plastic mesh.
The larger mesh-covered holes make it feel flimsy, but that is because the mesh is a flexible material. The holes in the mesh are super fine; your grinds will not get in the coffee. We cannot recommend them for heavy duty use, however. If you drink coffee all day every day, or if you have several coffee drinkers in the house who brew coffee at different times of the day, we recommend one that will stand up to constant use. While the price makes this a bargain, it will eventually break down at the seams and seep grinds in your coffee.
Furthermore, this one tends to drip when you remove it, so keep a napkin handy. Don’t feel bad about this. The larger mesh screens with smaller holes in the screen make sure the machine will not get backlogged with water pressure, plus you can use a finer coffee grind than other filters. You cannot go wrong with this price.
Compatible with 2.0 if used with Freedom Stickers.

This is another money-saving option, but it requires care when opening and using. Many people complained about the thin envelope that it ships in rather than a crush-proof box. The envelope was padded, but we have to agree. These cups are delicate, but under proper care, they will give you your money’s worth. Make sure you fill it properly, which means for standard, preground coffee, fill it ¾ of the way. The finer you go, fill it less, down to ½ way for espresso grind. People who do not obey this find their filter leaking into their machine.
The price is often a reflection of quality, and it is apparent here. It does its job well if you do not mind paying attention to what you are doing and treating it delicately.
Even though it is advertised as not compatible with 2.0, Freedom Stickers change that.
Compatible with 2.0 if used with Freedom Stickers.

This design looks sturdier than the others. It is a one piece design, eliminating any possibility of losing any parts, like the lid. The mesh is not as fine as the others, so if you want a strong espresso brew, a paper filter is recommended. It does sport the stainless steel mesh, and it is dishwasher safe—however, top rack and protected.
One of those little baskets sold in the baby aisle of many grocery stores for putting various small parts in the dishwasher, like baby bottle caps and nipples will work well here. Use one of these baskets in your dishwasher to minimize warping plastic.
Make sure the Freedom sticker is in the proper position. Other than that, you are good to go! Don’t overfill and make sure the lid is on tight, but that goes with any reusable K-Cup.
Compatible with 2.0 if used with Freedom Stickers.

One of our most highly recommended options, Eco4Cup made a quality cup. The most common question we receive for pink K-Cups that don’t have anything to with how it works is…why pink? Because coffee is brown, and it helps you see the grinds better when cleaning it.
The bright pink color is the color of the plastic with stainless steel mesh filter and silicone o-ring. Not every brand has a o-ring, but this one does, and it helps keep the filter from leaking through the lid.. Another brilliant one-piece design makes it so the lid will not fall off, and you do not need to keep track of smaller pieces.
These do not need Freedom Stickers. They pass 2.0 brewing technology without them. If you do not want to use Freedom Stickers, then these are perfect for you.
Compatible with most Keurig 2.0 brewers—K300, K400, and K500 series. Also works on every 1.0 machine.
Conclusion
As you can see here we have found several viable solutions to work around the compatibility issues with your new Keurig 2.0 machine. Don’t let them force you into buying their branded k-cups, or to only their available flavors. Use these affordable options to be back in charge of your own coffee, and to save you money.
